Asian Field, by the British artist Anthony Gormley, is an Asian version of his ongoing project, "Field," conducted under the guidance of the artist working with local communities throughout the world. Asian Field is a vast sculptural installation comprising some 200,000 hand-sized clay figures, which toured four cities in China - Guangzhou, Beijing, Shanghai, and Chongqing - from March 2003. Finally with the cooperation of the former Johnan Tokyo Metropolitan Senior High School, the installation was exhibited in the school's gymnasium. The project raised issues about the relationship between art, society, and the environment, and in the collaborative process of its making expanded art from a form of self-expression to one of collective consciousness. Asian Field spread like an ocean, making a deep impression on the audience. 【Artist】 Antony Gormley 【Basic information】 Period: 2004.11.6 - 2004.11.28 Venue: Gymnasium, Johnan Tokyo Metropolitan Senior High School (disused) Organized by: British Council
