The first annual General Meeting of CIMAM (International Committee for Museums and Collections of Modern Art) to be held in Asia, the CIMAM Japan Meeting was proposed by Toshio Hara, CIMAM board member and director of the Hara Museum. N&A served as the meeting's managing office and organized it together with the Hara Museum staff. 68 members from 22 countries in Europe, North America, and the rest of Asia joined CIMAM members from the Japanese art world and 355 other participants for three days of sessions and public symposia, engaging in mutual exchange. Centered on Tokyo, the meeting also provided participants the opportunity to visit Kyoto and Naoshima to study Japanese museums, contemporary art, and traditional culture. The meeting adopted "The Tokyo Resolution" and contributed to raising social awareness of the art museum as an institution.
