Exhibition Planning, Curation & Coordination
Celebrating the second anniversary of its opening, the Benesse House Naoshima Contemporary Art Museum, on an island in the Seto Inland Sea, organized its first open air exhibition. Site-specific artworks were exhibited across a variety of spaces on the museum grounds. The selection of works emphasized their compatibility and contrast with aspects such as the surrounding nature, the museum's architecture, and local history. The title "Out of Bounds" refers to crossing borders and indicated an aspiration toward a flexible way of thinking that employs art to transform existing concepts. Some of the artworks were installed permanently on Naoshima after the end of the exhibition, and they continue to add color to the island's landscape.
