The first edition of the Taipei Biennial to invite a foreign curator (Fumio Nanjo), this international exhibition featured works by Northeast Asian (Chinese, Taiwanese, South Korean, and Japanese) artists. The 36 artists' pieces covered a wide range of media and were exhibited not only in museum galleries but also in many other spaces and in the open air.
