Exhibition Planning, Curation & Coordination

This was the first solo exhibition of Ron Mueck (b. 1958) to be held in Japan. Mueck has made his career creating scale models for movies and TV programs, and in his art uses materials such as silicon and fiberglass to express the human body in precise sculpture by means of a classic casting technique. In his work, realism showing in details such as hair and blood vessels under the skin is interwoven with the unreality of sizes that are gigantic or minimal – perhaps a criticism of the nature of human existence in contemporary society.
