Roppongi T-Cube Artrwork Project

Categories :

Public & Corporate Art Consulting

Roppongi T-Cube was built as part of the Roppongi area redevelopment project and for ten years housed the headquarters of Samsung Japan. N&A curated three artworks for the public areas of this modern building to showcase aspects of contemporary art. These installations blended innovative design with expressions of universality, bringing color and fun to these spaces while staying in tune in with the features and function of the building. The LED clock design work by Yukihiro Yoshihara on the large glass wall of the main entrance added motion and novelty, while the oil painting by Kang Eun of the building's drop-off area evoked the atmosphere of an art gallery, bestowing stillness and calm in tune with the functionality of the space. The lobby of Samsung Japan's headquarters incorporated a fashionable grid pattern designed by Isao Sato, as befitted a company whose core business is electronics and home appliances. The individual artistic expression of these designs gave each space its own identity and uniqueness. 【Artists】 Yukihiro Yoshihara (Japan), Kang Eun (South Korea), Isao Sato (Japan) 【Basic information】 Location: Roppongi T-Cube (Roppongi 1-chome, Minato-ku, Tokyo) Completed: 2003.10 Commissioned by: Samsung Japan Corporation / Mitsui Fudosan Co., Ltd.
